Silk Flower Door Wreaths
When it comes to making an entrance there is nothing more welcoming than a door dressed with a huge wreath of silk flowers, pine cones , berries and cascades of satin ribbon.
This time of year doors come to life, houses are lit up with a thousand twinkling lights, grazing reindeer, Santa Clauses and of course the mighty pine tree laden with a million co-ordinating decorations and a thousand more lights.
Wreath arrives from from the olde English word 'Writhen', meaning to twist. Wreaths used during Yuletide symbolise nature and the promise of spring. In past times, they used to hold candles that were lit in hope of the return of the warmth and the sunlight.
The Advent wreath was first used by Lutherans in Germany in the 16th century, and in 1839, Lutheran Priest; Johann Hinrich Wichern used a wreath made from an old cart wheel to educate children about the meaning and purpose of Christmas.
Today, wreaths still strongly symbolise the festive season yet we have recently adopted this glorious circle of flowers as an injection of colour, exchanging the winter tones for spring and summer blooms, brightening up our doors all year.
With the history of the wreath now set in your mind, I continue with this beautiful tradition making silk, foreverlasting wreaths for every month of the year, but more so now in November and December.
The orders start pouring in towards the end of October keeping us busy making bespoke Christmas wreaths in time for you to dress your doors and homes for Christmas.
Prices start from £95 and the colour combination is of your choice. But don't dismay, if you've not remembered to order yours in time, we have a lovely selection that are displayed in the shop for you to choose from at the beginning of November as of when the shop will be dressed for Christmas and you can start to buy decorations and gifts from our wonderful selection of goodies for friends and loved ones.
